The East Broad Top Railroad and Coal Company began operation in 1872 tomine and transport coal from the Broad Top Mountain in centralPennsylvania. When the mines closed in 1956, the railroad was purchasedby a company which operated a small section of the line for touristexcursions. The EBT railroad held the distinction of the only originalnarrow-gauge railroad surviving east of the Rocky Mountains for much ofits history until the railroad ceased operations in 2011. Steamlocomotives will once again head down the tracks in 2021 as therailroad returns to service with passenger excursions. Bachmann ishappy to celebrate the history and revival of the East Broad Top withthis freight train set. The set arrives complete with a 2-6-0locomotive with operating headlight and tender with coal load, tankcar, two-bay steel hopper, and caboose.
